ESS Department Van Safety Page

The state Office of Financial Management has imposed a set of requirements for anyone using twelve-passenger, cargo, or carry-all vans for state purposes. These requirements apply whether the vans are state-owned or rented from an outside source. Fleet Services will not rent such vans to anyone who has not registered with them as a trained operator. This means two things:

  1. Training and registration involves reviewing a series of documents (either on-line or as maintained by Mike Harrell in 051 JHN), signing two forms, and presenting a valid driver's license to Mike for inspection. Drivers must also possess a UW NetID (your u.washington.edu account name) and provide this to Mike.

  2. Conduct on field trips is to be in accordance with the guidelines set forth in this document:

Your UW Van Safety Registration must be renewed every two years.
