Student Services Graduation

Apply:

Degrees are not automatically awarded upon completion of requirements; you must apply to graduate.

To apply for graduation, make an appointment with ESS Student Services (essadv@uw.edu). During the appointment a Degree Audit and Graduation Application will be completed.

The deadline to apply is the third Friday of the quarter in which you intend to graduate (see the Academic Calendar for specific dates). However, it is recommended that you apply two quarters prior to the intended graduation date in order to take advantage of Graduating Senior Priority registration.

Graduating Senior Priority Registration:

Students with senior standing who have a graduation application on file may register on the first day of Priority I registration for two quarters. GSP registration is granted for two quarters only. If you use GSP and later postpone your graduation date, you will not be granted extra quarters of GSP. Please refer to the following web page for more details:

Senior Year - Prepare for Success!

Take advantage of the Center for Career Services (134 Mary Gates Hall) now because services are free only while you are a student. Career Services can help you develop the skills needed to search for a job, prepare an application, interview for a position, and negotiate an offer. For career planning, consider taking General Studies 350: Navigating Career Options, or attend a Dependable Strengths Seminar. For more information about what Career Services has to offer, visit their website at :

If you have limited work experience, consider doing a credit or no credit internship. You can register for 'service learning' credits through the Carlson Center (120 Mary Gates Hall). Internships done for academic credit require a faculty adviser. For more information, visit the Carlson Center web site at :

If you are thinking about applying to graduate school in the next few years, consider taking the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) now, while you are accustomed to taking exams.

ESS Department Graduation Celebration

The Department holds its Annual Graduation Celebration the morning of Commencement. Announcements go out early Spring quarter so you should make sure that you are on the mailing lists so you don't miss out on any important information. In addition to inviting guests to the ceremony we do a live webstream so that even family who can't physically be here can enjoy the ceremony. Attendees are required to wear Cap, Gown, and Stole, and you can see pictures from previous years at http://www.ess.washington.edu/ess/news+events/graduation/ .
