Core Courses
The purpose and function of the ESS 'core courses' it to provide students with a fundamental understanding of Earth processes and what affects them. ESS 211, 212, 213, and 418 are typically taken by sophomore or junior students in the department after completion of the Math, Chemistry, and Physics prerequisites. Student usually spend their junior and senior years working on the core 3XX classes (ESS 311, 312, 313, and 314) along with other 400-level elective ESS classes. The core ESS courses are only offered once each year with the exception of ESS 418, which is offered twice each academic year. Please see the course websites for quarter offerings and more information.
